Debut CD Release: Like A Tree

Press text (german version below): Some time ago Cookie, started his way in a Swiss Reggae scene predominantly dominated by Reggae in Swiss dialect, as one of the only artists singing in English. 2008 he presented his EP “The Good Weed” and the Dancehall hit tune “Cyaan Stop” in collaboration with the Singjay Cali P. This tune made its way into many international Skate-, Freestyle Ski and Snowboard videos such as “Every day is Saturday” by Redbull and Salomon. It reached the status of a “must be tune“ at every Freestyle event.

Cookies very first single release “Don’t You Tell Me” wich appeared 2007, was proof of his works quality. Over two years now the tune gets played daily on Radio DRS Virus, Switzerland’s most announced youth radio.

The single “A Girl Like You” taken from his upcoming debut album already made it to the heavy rotation of DRS3 (Switzerlands No. 1 radio), and even entered the Itunes Reggae Charts on place No. 2!

Many very talented Reggae musicians from all over the world cooperated and contributed to the album. Due to this there are riddims on it coming from Jamaica, New Zealand, Germany and Switzerland of course.
Even Jah Mason, the man with the extraordinary loud voice from Mandeville Jamaica is to be heard on Cookie’s new Herbman Anthem “Herbalist’s tale”.
On the lovers tune “A Girl Like You”, you will hear the charming voice of Sophia Squire whom’s harmonies are also to be heard on other tracks on the album. Another sweet, sweet lovers tune is called “Move On”, voiced on a riddim by Sam Gilly (House of Riddim).

The soulful part of the album is definitely the song “Hold On” a beautiful combination with the Jamaican singer Andrew Robinson. Lots of reality lyrics are to be heard on the tunes “Marching On” and “Modern Times”. Modern Roots and conscious lyrics are to be found on tunes like “Good Life”, “Running Away” and on the album’s title track “Like A Tree”. The hit tunes for every party and dance hall certainly are the tunes “Inna Mi Car”, “Stories Pon Stories” and “Who Dem”. RnB fans will love the song “So Glad” and listen and enjoy it while chilling and relaxing.

Pressetext: In einer überwiegend von Mundart Reggae beherrschten Schweizer Szene, machte sich Cookie vor einiger Zeit auf und präsentierte 2008 neben der etwas provokanten EP „The Good Weed“, auch den Dancehallknaller „Cyaan Stop“ zusammen mit Cali P. Dieser Tune findet sich mittlerweile auf vielen internationalen Skate-, Freestyleski und Snowboard – Videos und gehört an jeden guten Snowboard Event. Auch Cookies allererste Single „Don‘t You Tell Me“ von 2007 zeugte von der Qualität seiner Arbeit. Seit bald 2 Jahren dreht der Song schon täglich seine Runden auf Radio DRS Virus, dem angesagtesten Schweizer Jugendradio.

Und genau daran will Cookie nun mit seinem Debüt Album anknüpfen, was mit der ersten Single „A Girl Like You“ auch wunderbar geklappt hat. Zu hören ist der Song bereits im Tagesprogramm von DRS3 (Nr. 1 Radio der Schweiz), und bei den Itunes Reggae Charts stieg er gleich auf Platz 2 ein.

Am Album haben viele begabte Reggae Musiker aus der ganzen Welt mitgearbeitet. So kommen die Riddims aus Jamaika, Neuseeland, Deutschland, Österreich und natürlich der Schweiz. Eingespielt sind sie alle von top Musikern und erfahrene Produzenten haben die Regler bedient. Am Mikrophon mit dabei ist auch Jah Mason. Der Mann mit dem unglaublich lauten Stimmorgan aus Mandeville Jamaica, unterstützt Cookie bei seinem neuen Herbman Anthem „Herbalist‘s Tale“. Sophia Squire singt mit Cookie den Lovers „A Girl Like You“ und ist auch bei anderen Songs als Harmony Stimme zu hören. Ein weiterer zuckersüsser Lovesong ist „Move On“ auf einem Riddim von Sam Gilly (House of Riddim).

Soulig wird’s wenn Cookie und Andrew Robinson im Song “Hold On” gemeinsam daran erinnern standhaft und stark zu bleiben. Reality Lyrics auf ganz eigenen Beats präsentiert Cookie auf „Marching On“ oder “Modern Times“. Modern Roots und conscious Lyrics sind mit Titeln wie „Like A Tree“, “Good Life” oder „Running Away“ vertreten. Und zum Abfeiern gibt’s unter Anderem die Songs „Inna Mi Car“, „Stories Pon Stories“ und “Who Dem”. RnB Fans hören sich dann zum entspannen genussvoll den letzten Song an. „So Glad“ ist wieder etwas ganz spezielles auf einem Beat von Mikey Board (Dubby Conquerors) aus Zürich.

Like A Tree ist ein sehr eindrückliches Erstlingswerk. Vom Cover bis zum letzten Ton ein Kunstwerk…. gross und stark….just like a tree!!!
