With the single “Someday” Cookie is proud to introduce his second album “Stand Tall”. The very refreshing, up-tempo dancehall tune “Someday”, which is also pretty autobiographic and uplifting, will be available as digital release this May 25th 2012. And this is just the first little appetizer for the upcoming album “Stand Tall” which will follow in September 2012. Watch out for it and stay tuned!

Es ist an der Zeit einen zweiten Künstler aus dem Gideon Production Artist Camp ins Rampenlicht zu rücken. Baba The Fayahstudent hat in den letzten 18 Monaten hart gearbeitet, ist Teil unserer Familie geworden und Sparringspartner von Cookie The Herbalist. Aber Baba ist eben nicht nur dies, sondern vielmehr ein eigenständiger Künstler mit einer ganz eigenen Interpretation von Reggae Music. Seine Beats, seine Lyrics, seine Auftritte und alles was er macht, macht er auf seine Art. Und genau das ist das Thema seiner am 4. Mai erscheinenden EP „My Way“.  6 starke Songs werden die Dancehall der Schweiz erschüttern. Der Monat Mai gehört ganz klar Baba und man wird nicht an ihm vorbei kommen. Den Startschuss gibt der Ep Release und die Party dazu am 4.5.2012 im Badener Kulturlokal Merkker.

In den letzten Monaten veröffentlichte Baba bereits einige Songs auf unserem aber auch auf internationalen Labels und schaffte es mit seiner zweiten Single bereits ins Tagesprogramm von Couleur 3. Dies obwohl Baba wie gesagt seinen eigenen Weg geht und keinen radiotauglichen Mainstream Reggae macht. CHUPACABRA; der Chupacabra (vom spanischen chupar: saugen und cabra: Ziege, der Ziegensauger) ist ein lateinamerikanisches Fabelwesen, das Kleinvieh wie Ziegen oder Schafen gleich einem Vampir die Kehle aufschlitzen und dann das Blut aussaugen soll.

Soulfire Hi-Fi, nördlichste Reggae-Bastion der Republik und seit der Veröffentlichung des Calling Riddims im Oktober 2010 erfolgreich im real existierenden Produzenten-Business etabliert, holt das Monstrum in die Dancehall. Der Chupacabra Riddim, treibend, mit saftigen Bassfrequenzen, einem Gänsehaut verursachenden Streicher-Arrangement und verschachtelten Breakbeats, stellt im Schaffen der Kieler Rhythmus-Schmiede einen neuen kreativen Höhepunkt dar – und die beteiligen Künstler tun das Übrige dazu.

So konnte mit Konshens einer der aktuellen Boom-Artists Jamaikas gewonnen werden, und auch Burro Banton, die Original-Reibeisen-Stimme der karibischen Mutterinsel, liess sich nicht lange bitten. Beide Songs, „None A Dem“ und „Cyaan“, liefern authenische Dancehall-Vibes, drückend, anklagend und sozialkritisch. Die Achsenmächte Leipzig/ Berlin, bestehend aus der personifizierten Speerspitze des deutschsprachigen Dancehalls, Ronny Trettmann und seinem kongenialen Partner-in-Crime Ranking Smo, lassen zwei akustische Sprengsätze explodieren, über die im angehenden Jahr noch zu reden sein wird: „1984“ und „1994“ sind aufgezeigte Lebenswege zwischen Deutschland-Ost und -West und damit gültige Bestandsaufnahmen zweier Generationen, dargeboten auf einem superben musikalischen Level. Singjay-Sensation Million Stylez, dessen Überhit „Miss Fatty Fatty“ immer noch in allen Ohren ist, schmachtet mit „In My Life“ eine supermelodiöse Hymne an seine Angebetete, und Cookie The Herbalist, upcoming Roots-Artist aus der Schweiz und dort präsent in Radio und TV, propagiert Conscious Lifestyle mit „Waan Everything“, eine dem Zeitgeschehen entsprechende, von Herzen kommende Abrechnung mit all denen, die den Hals nicht voll genug kriegen. Abgerundet wird die Selection von U-Cee´s klassischem Soundkiller-Tune „One Sound“, „Neva Lef Out“ des jamaikanischen Konshens Protegees Darrio sowie „Einzigartiger“, einer ordentlichen Portion deutschsprachiger Slackness, präsentiert vom Allgäuer Duo Flixx´n´Hooch.

So kann und darf Dancehall Reggae 2012 klingen.

“2 Singers / 1 Mission” that’s the name of our latest release starring our two label acts Cookie The Herbalist and Baba The Fayahstudent. This release shows how the very same beat can be interpretated in totally different ways.
While Baba The Fayahstudent big ups his wife and mother of his children on “Greatest Gift”, Cookie singjays about “The Same Ol’ Story” which is waiting on us almost daily in this world out there.

As it is usual in Reggae we wanted to present a nice little medley video for this release.
It wasn’t very easy to find a common style and atmosphere due to the thematic diversity of both tunes. But on the search for it, we figured out that it doesn’t really matter if we’re standing in a green field or inside a grey factory building, it doesn’t matter if we’re old or young if we’re crying or smiling. Because music touches all of us in a different own and specific way. Where one will expect a lovesong from a certain sound and melody another will maybe expect a melancholic song from the very same sound. So it doesn’t really matter at all where the video takes place, the music will hit us in it’s own way anyway.

And it’s exactly this idea that we wanted to convert to a video. So we placed our two artists in front of a grey wall, added some “everyday life” – video projections to it and then we’ve let the songs work with their own specific and strong lyrical power.
These two tunes will awake completely different emotions and deliver totally different storys although having kind of the same rooted and grounded vibe.

On a cold and freezing winter evening we drove to a remote factory building somewhere in a hopelessly sad and dirty industrial area. On the other side of the building, construction workers and mechanics worked hard with huge machines while our film team illuminated the grey walls with exspensive camera material.
The air smelled like boiling oils and gasses and heated up metal. When everything was ready and set and the first melodies from Baba’s song “Greatest Gift” rang out the shooting could finally start. A bit later when Baba’s part was filmed, the same riddim rang out again but this time with Cookie’s a bit more melancholic song “Same Ol’ Story”.

Our brandnew medley video with the two songs on the Pot Of Gold Riddim (by renomated german producer Ganjaman) is to admire starting from today on Youtube & Co. The “2 Singers I 1 Mission” single release is available on Itunes & Co. since December 12, 2011.
